How to Check if Your Android Device Supports eSIM

Whether your Android device is eSIM-compatible depends on the manufacturer and whether an embedded SIM (eSIM) chip is included in the device. To make things easier, we’ve compiled a comprehensive list of eSIM-compatible phones and tablets you can check.

However, some devices may not support eSIM—even if they’re technically listed as eSIM-capable. This is especially common in certain regions or with specific carrier-branded models.

Why Some Devices Don’t Support eSIM

Android is an open-source platform, which allows manufacturers and carriers to customize their devices. As a result, some phone models released in specific countries may lack eSIM functionality, or your mobile carrier may not have eSIM support enabled for your device.

How to Check eSIM Support on Android Phones

Here are a few ways to check if your Android smartphone supports eSIM technology. Please note that steps may vary depending on the device and software version. The most reliable way to confirm eSIM compatibility is through your device manufacturer, vendor, or mobile network provider.

✅ For Samsung Galaxy Devices:

  1. Open the Settings app.

  2. Tap Connections.

  3. Tap SIM Manager.

  4. Look for the Add eSIM option.

If this option appears, your Samsung device is likely eSIM-compatible. Always verify with your carrier or Samsung support to be sure.

✅ For Google Pixel Devices:

  1. Open the Settings app.

  2. Tap Network & Internet.

  3. Tap the + next to SIMs.

  4. If you see the option “Download a SIM instead?”, your Pixel phone supports eSIM.

For Other Android Devices:

  1. *Dial #06# and press the call button.

  2. If your device is eSIM-compatible, you’ll see an EID (eSIM unique identification number) displayed on the screen.

🔓 How to Check if Your Android Device is Carrier-Unlocked (Required for eSIM Use)

To use an eSIM from different mobile carriers, your phone must be unlocked. Here’s how to check:

  1. Remove your current SIM card.

  2. Insert a SIM card from a different carrier.

  3. Wait a moment to see if the carrier name changes at the top of your screen.

  4. Try placing a call.

    • If the call goes through, your phone is unlocked.

    • If the call fails and you see a “SIM locked” or similar message, your phone is locked to the original carrier.

Final Tip

If you’re still unsure whether your Android phone supports eSIM, always double-check with your device manufacturer, vendor, or mobile carrier. Device specs can vary depending on model number and region.
